Backhand Casting a Bass Lure

Backhand cast is casting with a backhand motion from the casting hand typically using a roll cast at short to medium distances. Common when boat positioning is difficult (or takes too long) or a second angler is nearby interfering with standard cast.

Why are BackHand Casts Important?

Backhand casts are important for:

  • Docks and Marinas: Use for precision casts around the boats and docks to get optional lure placement.
  • Shorelines: Used for optimal lure placement around cover.
  • Avoid Hitting Lure: Where necessary to make casts while avoiding hitting the trolling motor, windshield and others on the boat.
