Grub Soft Plastic for Bass Lures

Grub soft plastics, also called curly tail grubs, are a smaller thinner rounded body soft plastic with a thin curly tail that wiggles during the retrieve. Some consider reapers a variation of a grub albeit reapers are not generally listed by retailers anymore.

Why are Grub Soft Plastics Important?

Grub soft plastics are important to:   

  • Mimic Forage: Can be used to mimic grubs.
  • Lure Action: The grub tail can provide significant wiggling action for a small profile soft plastic.
  • Vibration:  It adds vibration. 
  • Add Scent/Taste: Some soft plastics have scent/taste or it can be added as a dip.
Understanding Grub Soft Plastics
  • Common Sizes: 2″ to 4″ with the tail being 1″ to 3″.
  • Vibration: The relatively large tale provides vibrations. 
  • Options: Single tail grubs, double tail grubs, spider grubs plus there can be ribbed or smooth body grubs.
