Vertical presentations are when lures descend through the strike zone perpendicular to the surface often referred to as jigging.
Why are Horizontal Presentation Important?
Vertical presentations are important to:
Target Spots: Presenting a lure to a specific location where the lure is to pass through that spot or land on that spot containing the strike zone. Targeting spots typically are based on visual spot indicators, waypoints, or using forward facing sonar.
Fish Slow: Sometimes referred to as “slowing it down” and a key attribute of finesse fishing. Fishing slow is keeping the lure in the strike zone for a long period of time giving bass a long time to observe prior to a bite.
Vertical Presentation Options
Tight Line Vertical Retrieve Options: Tight line vertical presentations that keep the lure perpendicular to water surface created by:
Horizontal Baits/Lures: Horizontal baits are lures that provide a horizontal profile, in other words, the lure sits horizontally in the water column when not being retrieved are common for vertical presentations. Examples include vertical fishing jighead minnow.
